Two weeks in my new office here at Makati, I can definitely say that I’m now accustomed with the changes in shifting to another workplace. At first and I admit it was really hard to wake up early in the morning but I guess changing to a new environment and work will pay-off sooner or later.
These are how things go for me from Mondays to Fridays. I usually start the day:
6:00 am – Wake up time! We pray together with Kat, my better half. (Yes, we pray to thank the Lord for giving us a new day and something to look forward to.)
6: 45 am – Go the Fx Station Ayala Bound to go to my office.
(if lucky, boards Fx and not wait for about 30-40 minutes lining up, this is the hard part on my first week, I was telling myself that on my previous work I’ll be taking just to two rides and be at the office for a 30 minutes of travel time.)
7:30 – 7:45 am – Give or take with the traffic at C5 and Edsa I’ll be an early bird at the office.
8:00 am – Eat breakfast and Enjoy a cup of Coffee (I’m not a coffee addict but now I’m becoming one.)
8:15 -11:45 am- Work.
11:50 – 12:50 – Lunch Break.
1:00 pm to 4:45 pm – Work again.
5:00 pm – Going Home. Again this is the tough part of it because I’ll take three rides before I reach home. First, jeepney going to Ayala Station, then followed MRT ride to Shaw (everyone knows how grueling riding in this mass transportation) then last stop take another jeepney bound Pasig. Of course, it is very tiring when you commute like what I’m doing now and everybody else is doing unlike with my previous job that I have all the luxuries in getting home.
I’m still a web copywriter at DirectWithHotels Inc. As a web copywriter, I write reviews, press release, and other viral marketing campaigns to help increase room reservations of one particular hotel client that the company caters.
Things that I’m missing in my former company (Brand Archipelago Inc.)
- Getting up late in the morning around 10:00 am, office starts at 11:00 am, this is very advantageous to me since I’m just seven kilometers away from my office, I have the luxury to watch NBA in the morning given there is a game on that day and I can be with my baby to play and take care of him.
- This is one of the best perks at this office FREE LUNCH for all employees.
- Free to all social networking sites (Friendster, Multiply, You Tube, etc.). Here at DWH, everything is blocked including Yahoo Messenger! I miss the times when I would a just a message to anyone on my list and ask “Musta?” then followed by a “Buzz” hehehe.
- Cheap merienda meals (Footlongs, Burgers, Goto, Tenga, Isaw, Banana Q, etc)
- Money matters with regard to transportation and food; here at DHW everything increased, 2X to be exact for usual expenses.
- Easy access going home and free parking slot.
Looking on the other side of the fence at DirectWithHotels Inc.:
- Higher compensation especially with my situation now that I have a baby and family to support. First thing that attracted me to transfer was the bigger salary that I’ll be getting, don’t get me wrong here, everyone wants to have a bigger paycheck when one transfers to another company.
- Trainings, Trainings, Trainings! That says it all. I want to learn more new things in the career that I’ve chosen and being part of this company will surely benefit not only me but also the company.
- Quarterly Bonus if the team exceeds or meets team goals.
- New environment, new friends, and new experiences that will surely help me in my career.
As of now, I’m enjoying my stay here at DWH, pretty much the same things with what I’m doing at my previous work. I want to thank my former employer and colleagues for being part of Brand Archipelago Inc. More power and Thank You! I am now moving forward and being ready to face new challenges that I am confident I will surpass.

Congrats! Manlibre ka naman. Laki ng sweldo mo jan eh. Heheheh
